About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Act as the primary technical authority for Microsoft D365, with accountability for overall system design, integrations, and architectural decisions. Advise the Technical Delivery Lead on platform-level technical decisions, risks, and improvement opportunities
Lead and enforce peer code reviews and technical design reviews for internal and contractor-developed solutions
Ensure technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational runbooks are created and maintained
Perform hands on development for complex, high risk, or time sensitive D365FO changes, including the ability to independently take over development responsibilities when external resources require assistance or are unavailable
Review and approve D365 X++ customizations, extensions, integrations, and data entities
Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical specifications and solution designs
Provide effort estimates and technical input for enhancements, projects, and defect remediation
Ensure all development work adheres to established standards for quality, performance, and supportability
Own and oversee D365FO DevOps pipelines, branching strategies, builds, releases, and environment synchronization
Serve as the primary technical sign-off authority for D365FO changes, escalating architectural or high-risk decisions as required
Ensure SDLC and change management processes are consistently followed across all D365FO work
Coordinate code promotion and release readiness activities across development, test, and production environments
Lead internal escalation for D365 production issues
Coordinate troubleshooting efforts across internal IT teams, external development partners, ISVs, and Microsoft support
Lead root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions address underlying design or process issues
Proactively identify systemic risks and recommend platform or process improvements
Provide technical governance and oversight for outsourced development partners
Ensure external development work meets internal standards and contractual expectations
Serve as the technical owner for D365FO integrations and APIs, including troubleshooting and design validation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience) and 7+ years of ERP experience
Handson Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience in a real enterprise environment
Understanding of D365 Finance & Operations architecture and development
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 cloud solution architecture, including designing, governing
Strong technical foundation as a developer (strong knowledge of SDLC, release management, and change governance) with the ability to think and operate like a system architect (connect systems end-to-end and think beyond individual features or tickets)
Experience reviewing and evaluating development work done by others
Comfort serving as the technical owner during high impact incidents
