About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting healthcare data ingestion, transformation, and delivery
  • Sources may include claims, EHR/EMR, eligibility, pharmacy, and third-party datasets
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server stored procedures that drive core data transformation logic across client-specific and standardized pipelines
  • Implement complex transformation logic using T-SQL, including mapping, validation, aggregation, and data standardization
  • Optimize performance of SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL processes to ensure efficient large-scale data processing
  • Develop and optimize data solutions within Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, SQL, Databricks)
  • Lead efforts in data onboarding and implementation, ensuring timely and accurate client data integration
  • Partner closely with Professional Services, Product, DevOps, and Analytics teams to gather requirements and deliver data solutions
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and validation, including reconciliation and audit processes for healthcare datasets
  • Implement and maintain data governance and compliance standards, including HIPAA and PHI handling requirements
  • Design and document data models, mappings, and transformation logic for standardized and reusable data assets
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of data pipeline failures, performance issues, and client-impacting defects
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline onboarding, reduce implementation timelines, and enhance data reliability
  • Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in data engineering and documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably within healthcare or regulated data environments
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and T-SQL, with hands-on experience building complex stored procedures and data transformations
  • Experience with SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
  • Strong Python (or similar programming language) skills
  • Hands-on experience with Azure data services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, Azure SQL, Blob Storage/Data Lake)
  • Experience designing and managing ETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines
  • Solid understanding of healthcare data structures (claims, encounters, provider, member, etc.)
  • Experience with data warehousing and modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
