About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide day-to-day supervision for operational activities including picking and loading orders, receiving and unloading inbound orders, warehousing and storage, housekeeping and sanitation, safety, security, and quality assurance
  • Manage the drop trailer yard and welcome center check-in/check-out processes
  • Ensure departmental compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Supervise department personnel to achieve accurate and complete shipping orders, labor efficiency, quality standards, and customer satisfaction
  • Supervise receiving, storing, and shipping of finished products
  • Provide operational support to the Sales Coordinator in reconciling customer complaints originating from the department
  • Support Distribution team efforts through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, and facilities
  • Rearrange stock layout to accommodate new products, consolidate existing product, and improve workflow efficiency
  • Coordinate, implement, teach, and participate in safety program activities; provide required safety training
  • Establish and maintain housekeeping and sanitation practices; conduct monthly compliance inspections
  • Assist the Manager in evaluating warehouse duties and recommend productivity improvements
  • Select, hire, train, and appraise warehouse personnel
  • Ensure compliance with warehousing instructions and procedures through regular safety and GMP meetings
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through location audits, outbound order audits, investigation of shipping errors, and corrective actions
  • Oversee inbound and outbound shipment scheduling, maintain logs, and prepare documents
  • Direct shipping office clerical staff
  • Follow food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria including SQF, GMPs, FSMA, and preventive controls
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s Degree in Logistics, Logistics and Transportation, or equivalent experience
  • 5–10 years of experience in Logistics, Logistics and Transportation
  • Supervisory experience in a warehouse environment preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, including Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and JDE
  • Hands-on working knowledge of distribution, warehousing, and transportation disciplines
  • Efficient planning and organization skills
  • Ability to foster cooperation and understanding with employees
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to travel if required
  • Ability to perform required physical tasks, including intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may be required
  • Willingness and ability to wear personal protective equipment as required
  • May be required to work outdoors, in adverse temperatures, around vibrations, operational chemicals, fumes, and food allergens, in confined or dark spaces, and at heights exceeding 18 feet
  • Typical shifts are 8–12 hours per day; additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may be required
