About the role
- Project Planning and Preparation: Working with a PM/PGM, identifying key stakeholders and their influence on the project.
- Under the direction of a PM/PGM, work with National Account Manager(s) and customer to understand customer needs and stakeholder goals, while balancing the triple constraint of time, scope and money to complete the project.
- Establish the project scope, timeline, and budget, through working with the Design teams and other departments.
- Establishing guidelines for project planning phase of Burglar Alarm Systems/Fire Alarm Systems/Video Systems/Access Control Systems.
- Work with Project Account Team(s) to prioritize and complete proposals within the required timelines, while meeting or exceeding budgetary goals.
- Project Delivery: Together with a PM/PGM, establish the project timeline, roles and responsibilities and review with the Project Team, client and other key stakeholders, in order to gain buy-in and identify any missing items.
- Assist and direct the Design team in compiling and documenting the scope of work to be completed by a Technical Service Partner (TSP/sub-contractor) for each project, in order to provide clear and coordinated interpretations of the repeating prototype system installation. To be completed during the introductory period of each customer project/system type.
- Solicit bids from local TSPs and negotiate labor pricing for each project.
- Create tasks for technical support groups to create system panel programs utilizing the appropriate manufacturer’s programming software, ensuring that customer, jurisdiction, and Vector established requirements are met.
- Provide direction, motivation and leadership to the Project Team, while making certain that delegated tasks are being completed according to the project requirements.
- Project Close Out: Seeking input from a PM/PGM, review the project tasks as they relate to the key project milestones, and prioritize and execute by those which most impact the project timeline, scope, and budget.
- Assess project performance as it relates to schedule, scope, and budget on an ongoing basis, adjusting for and responding to risks and change orders as they occur.
- Maintain a system of change order management together with a PM/PGM, controlling, documenting and communicating change orders to the key stakeholders as they occur throughout the project life cycle.
- Verify the scope against the agreed upon requirements.
- Obtain customer and technical acceptance and sign-off.
- Complete administrative and contract close-out requirements.
- Review lessons learned and close out with the PM/PGM, Project Team and stakeholders, and appropriate recognition/celebration.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Burglar Alarm/Fire Alarm/Video Surveillance/Access Control systems or previous field experience - Preferred
- Proficiency in specific software such as: Microsoft Office Suite, Business Dynamics 365, Adobe, and Visio.
- Internal operating software– project reporting, date management, task management, tracking, materials orders.
- Excel – customer reporting, tracking.
- Outlook – high volume of email traffic communicating with Account Teams, TSPs, and customers.
- Project Management Training/Equivalent working experience: Professional hard and soft skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage a high quantity of projects, while maintaining the Vector quality standards and successfully lead a team.
- Strong Communication/Interpersonal Skills: Heavily communication-oriented position, requiring mature skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of peers, customers, field resources, General Contractors, and management.
- Ability to interpret blueprint designs, both hard copy and electronic copy: Required for gathering information to provide accurate and complete documents to the technicians, and minimize risk as it relates to project completion and extended costs.
