About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess, diagnose, and treat complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems
- Assist the health care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort
- Provide direction, education, leadership, and accountability for program development, implementation, and evaluation
- Lead program planning and guideline development
- Set practice standards within organizational, divisional, and unit missions, goals, and objectives
- Manage human, fiscal, and other resources to ensure quality programs, processes, and services with measurable positive outcomes
- Support professional development and empowerment of staff
- Work with the Nurse Manager regarding negotiable supervisory responsibilities
- Promote quality, efficiency, and cost-effective outcomes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state
- Current RN licensure in Virginia required for continued employment
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
- 5 years nursing experience required
- Minimum of one year experience in the position's specialty patient population or practice setting
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Must be enrolled in a Master's degree program at the time of application and complete it within 36 months of hire
- Applicants enrolled in Baccalaureate to Doctoral programs may receive special consideration and may require longer than 36 months to complete the terminal degree
- Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field preferred
- If the master's degree is not in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required
- Ability to lift 20–50 lbs and 50–100 lbs
- Prolonged standing and sitting; frequent bending; walking; climbing; overhead, extensive, and repetitive reaching
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speaking, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and noisy environment, handle multiple priorities, manage frequent and intense customer interactions, and adapt to frequent change
- Generally works day shift with flexibility for special projects or organizational and staff needs
