About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver physical therapy care to assigned patient populations
- Record patient care in the hospital medical record
- Act as a consultant to various patient clinics
- Provide instruction to physical therapy support staff, students, personnel of other disciplines, and patients or family members
- Rotate through various clinical service areas as needed
- Evaluate patients and implement plans of care
- Conduct discharge planning
- Order equipment
- Represent the department at rounds and discharge conferences
- Schedule and charge patients
- May supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Technicians, students, and volunteers
- Participate in self-directed team problem solving and escalate unresolved issues to the departmental manager
- Work schedules established with the specific manager, including potential weekends and holidays
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist required for continued employment
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area
- New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as a Physical Therapist
- Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy
- Schedules, including weekends and holidays, may be required based on unit organizational and staffing needs
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs.
- Frequent bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motion
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, and logical thinking
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment, handle multiple priorities and intense customer interactions, and adapt to frequent change
