Licensed Practical Nurse, Pediatric Long-Term Care – Rotating
VCU HealthLicensed Practical Nurse providing nursing care to pediatric residents in long-term care settings. Assisting healthcare teams with wellness, comfort, and treatment documentation.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides individual and family-centered nursing care and treatment to pediatric, elderly, acutely ill, or injured residents.
- Integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the individual needs of residents and families.
- Assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
- Delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a resident or group of residents based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
- Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- LPN licensure in Virginia or eligible
- Current LPN Licensure in Virginia
- AHA BLS Certification or equivalent
- Experience in a long term care setting such as a nursing facility (NF), skilled nursing facility (SNF), or assisted living (AL).
- Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing
- Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines such as treatments and organizes work to carry out assignments.
- Stays alert to residents’ condition and brings concerns to the attention of the RN immediately.

- Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established by specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
- Schedules, including shift rotation requirements and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.
