Payroll Specialist – Part Time

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct bi-weekly payroll for over 500 program participants across Ohio and Indiana.
- Audit and maintain digital payroll files, ensuring all database scans and documentation are complete and compliant.
- Monitor bi-weekly payroll changes to guarantee all transmittals are processed accurately within strict deadlines.
- Act as a primary liaison for staff, host agency supervisors, and participants to resolve payroll inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Support program participants directly by guiding them through the completion of timesheets to ensure they are paid correctly and on time.
- Respond to external verification requests and prepare specialized payroll reports as required by leadership.
- Facilitate internal and external audits by organizing data and managing specific documentation requests.
- Apply basic accounting principles to ensure all financial tracking and general clerical tasks align with organizational standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of two years in payroll
- High school diploma required; associate degree in accounting or a related field preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is required
- Experience with Paylocity and CRM systems is preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting principles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively resolve payroll inquiries with staff, supervisors, and participants
