About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support and conduct cybersecurity assessments, including vulnerability assessments, penetration assessments, policy reviews, social engineering engagements, and technical network reviews
Collaborate with cybersecurity team members and cross-functional departments to evaluate risks, recommend solutions, and implement process improvements
Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, technologies, and industry best practices
Support vulnerability management by identifying, validating, documenting, and tracking remediation of security findings
Develop and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and supporting documentation
Respond to internal and client requests professionally, timely, and courteously
Communicate technical cybersecurity concepts and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
Contribute to continuous improvement of assessment methodologies, security tools, and team knowledge
Manage multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining quality, professionalism, and attention to detail
Travel at least once per year to Mitchell, South Dakota, and occasionally for client engagements, training, or team meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer information systems, computer science, or a related field is required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with vulnerability management, access control, network security, endpoint security, and risk management
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality work products
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Willingness to learn new technologies, security concepts, compliance frameworks, and assessment methodologies
Successful background check required
Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls
Experience performing or assisting with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, policy reviews, risk assessments, or compliance reviews preferred
Familiarity with NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, CIS Controls, CMMC, SOC 2, or FFIEC guidance preferred
Experience with vulnerability scanners, endpoint security platforms, SIEM solutions, or phishing assessment platforms is a plus
Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and cloud technologies preferred
3 years of experience in a network administration role or similar position preferred
Security+, CySA+, or similar certification preferred
