About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support and conduct cybersecurity assessments, including vulnerability assessments, penetration assessments, policy reviews, social engineering engagements, and technical network reviews
- Collaborate with cybersecurity team members and cross-functional departments to evaluate risks, recommend solutions, and implement process improvements
- Research emerging threats, vulnerabilities, technologies, and industry best practices
- Support vulnerability management by identifying, validating, documenting, and tracking remediation of security findings
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and supporting documentation
- Respond to internal and client requests professionally, timely, and courteously
- Communicate technical cybersecurity concepts and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to continuous improvement of assessment methodologies, security tools, and team knowledge
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently while maintaining quality, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Travel at least once per year to Mitchell, South Dakota, and occasionally for client engagements, training, or team meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer information systems, computer science, or a related field is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with vulnerability management, access control, network security, endpoint security, and risk management
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality work products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Willingness to learn new technologies, security concepts, compliance frameworks, and assessment methodologies
- Successful background check required
- Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls
- Experience performing or assisting with vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, policy reviews, risk assessments, or compliance reviews preferred
- Familiarity with NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, CIS Controls, CMMC, SOC 2, or FFIEC guidance preferred
- Experience with vulnerability scanners, endpoint security platforms, SIEM solutions, or phishing assessment platforms is a plus
- Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and cloud technologies preferred
- 3 years of experience in a network administration role or similar position preferred
- Security+, CySA+, or similar certification preferred
