About the role

  • Lead transaction tax compliance and incentives for new site development, construction projects, and operational sites
  • Manage exemptions and direct pay permits, review taxes on construction pay applications, and oversee sales & use tax compliance in several states
  • Collaborate with New Site Development, Construction, Operations, Legal, Procurement, Accounting, and Finance teams
  • Communicate with outsourced/co-sourced tax advisors and government authorities
  • Retrieve asset and expenditure details from Yardi to assess U.S. transaction tax implications
  • File and maintain direct pay permits and resale/exemption certificates
  • Support cost segregation studies and reverse audits; assist tax advisors capturing sales tax obligations and refund opportunities
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to sales and use tax payments and refunds; maintain documentation
  • Model potential transactions to assist New Site Development & Marketing teams with projected tax impacts
  • Research and monitor tax landscape of jurisdictions where Vantage operates
  • Respond to state tax notices and audit requests
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field is required
  • Master of Taxation is highly preferred
  • CPA and/or CMI/CCIP designation is a requirement for this role
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in an industry tax role with C&I and transaction tax responsibilities
  • 3 or more years of Big 4 or Regional public accounting experience in relevant position
  • Broad exposure to multistate and local jurisdictions
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Canadian GST/HST/PST taxation is helpful
  • Confident and collaborative communicator
  • Proven ability to build positive and productive relationships
  • Strong analytical mind, problem-solving, and modeling skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner
  • Self-starter with the agility to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrates executive presence and effective communication skills

  • Travel up to 5% (may increase)
