About the role
- This Individual Contributor position is accountable for the direction and development of all new system improvements and maintenance of current systems for the drafting department
- Providing system and programming support, such as trouble-shooting, testing and assisting the IT Department with the implementation of newly developed drafting programs and updates
- Identification of drafting system improvement opportunities to increase output, reduce redundant processes or improve error-proofing.
- Report to the VP of Engineering and have no direct or indirect reports
- Some travel is required (up to 15%) both international and domestic
- Apply technology to drafting processes
- Analyze and translate user requirements into functional development projects
- Assemble and lead work teams to develop functional specifications for the IT department
- Perform project management including task identification, effort and duration estimates, task dependencies and sequencing, resource assignment and evaluation, conflict and problem resolution
- Perform testing of applications to ensure conformance to specifications
- Creation and presentation of user training sessions related to the department's computer graphic systems and programs
- Provide technical support for users and programmers
- Help maintain manuals of drafting functions
- Partner with the Drafting Manager to support team productivity and solving challenging problems
- Maintain a productive working relationship within the department and with all other departments
Requirements
- Preferred Bachelor’s with 5+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years relevant experience
- Strong understanding of computer graphics systems and programs utilized by Utility Drafting.
- Must demonstrate strong project management skills
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office Products (Project / Word / Excel / Access/Powerpoint)
- Demonstrate excellence with interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Acceptable prior performance and attendance record
- Knowledge of L&T Steel drafting methods and processes highly preferred
- Understanding of AutoLISP and the ability to write LISP routines.
- Knowledge of PDM and CAD tool utilization
- Good understanding of Structures Business System (IFS / Universe)
