Controller

• This position is accountable for the analysis and reporting of site financial data including sales, cost of sales, margin analysis, inventory valuation and reconciliation, manufacturing performance, manufacturing variances, income statements, balance sheets, operational variances, capital expenditures, forecast/planning and special projects.
• The individual is expected to prepare and analyze the site’s annual financial plan, as well as develop, review and maintain control procedures regarding financial and operational controls of the business unit and prepare/review monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
• This position reports to the North America Controllership Director with dotted-line responsibilities to the Plant Manager.
• The position supports two small plants, generally with revenue of $75M or less.
• The site controller manages one direct report, the site accounting associate.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Establishes rigorous and disciplined accounting and internal controls.
• Ensure financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flows) are compliant with US GAAP and accurate without exception.
• Adherence to all Valmont financial policies.
• Accurate inventory valuation including periodic cycle counts and valuation in compliance with FIFO.
• Accurate and timely customer invoicing.
• Revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP.
• Receivables valuation including maintenance of subledgers, reconciling items and reserves in compliance with policy.
• Warranty accruals, reflective of known and/or expected failures and costs to remediate.
• Expense accruals.
• Payables, accrued liabilities, and debt balances.
• Balance sheet reconciliations.
• SOX controls.
• Collaborate closely with site operations finance/controllers to build out reporting for daily, weekly, and monthly needs related to various operational measurements.
• Manage working capital.
• Work with operations to manage inventory.
• Works with the business to ensure working capital is sufficient to fund best-in-class business as well as cognizant of need for cash flow.
• Assist in preparing, implementing, and monitoring the Annual Operating Plan and various financial reports/statistics to ensure adherence to short and long-range financial goals.
• Monitor performance to plan throughout the year.
• Administer policies and procedures supporting the Plant Manager and operational staff to ensure maximum productivity and throughput.
• Oversees monthly Accounting close activities in accordance with established procedures to ensure timely completion and accurate information.
• Perform statistical analysis to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes to site performance and present findings.

Site Controller – Small Site

Engineer

• Design hydraulic and pneumatic systems for custom capital equipment and automation platforms.
• Support the conceptual design and development of proprietary manufacturing equipment under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Develop and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, symbols, and system layouts in accordance with internal standards and applicable industry codes
• Ensure hydraulic and pneumatic systems are designed and implemented with appropriate safety measures, including pressure containment, energy isolation, and fail-safe operation
• Perform system sizing and performance calculations (e.g., flow, pressure, duty cycle, heat load) to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
• Select fluid power components based on performance requirements, reliability, safety, and total lifecycle cost.
• Diagnose and resolve hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls-related issues during build, commissioning, and operation using structured root-cause analysis
• Interface with component suppliers and vendors to evaluate components, resolve technical issues, and support system performance and reliability.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of standardized designs, specifications, and best practices for fluid power systems.
• Collaborate closely with Controls Engineers to ensure effective system integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Create and revise 3D CAD models and detailed drawings to support equipment design, fabrication, and assembly.
• Participate in design reviews, functional verification, and troubleshooting activities to identify and mitigate potential issues early in development.
• Contribute to risk assessments by identifying potential mechanical, safety, and usability concerns and supporting mitigation actions.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of material, operating instructions, and training materials.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing and fabrication teams during equipment build, installation, and commissioning.
• Assist with equipment testing and performance evaluations; document results and recommend design or process improvements.
• Support data collection related to cost, material usage, and labor to enable continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Ensure project documentation is accurately captured, maintained, and stored in designated digital systems.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, maintenance, procurement, quality, and operations.
• Work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within project teams to meet project goals and schedules.

Fluid Power & Controls Engineer

• The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, programming, and support of industrial automation and control systems used in advanced manufacturing processes.
• This role supports capital projects and plant automation initiatives from concept through commissioning, working under the guidance of senior engineers.
• The Controls Engineer contributes to reliable, safe, and efficient operation of automated equipment while continuing to build technical depth in PLCs, robotics, motion control, and industrial networking.
• Design, program, and support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for manufacturing equipment.
• Participate in capital projects including laser cutting, robotic welding, material handling, and automated fabrication systems.
• Develop control logic, IO configurations, HMI screens, and supporting documentation in alignment with engineering standards.
• Support system testing, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and start-up activities at manufacturing sites.
• Assist with electrical schematics, IO lists, and controls documentation using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent tools.
• Apply industrial safety standards and best practices, including machine safeguarding, safety PLCs, interlocks, and risk assessments.
• Support compliance with applicable standards under guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with validation activities (FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ) as required.
• Program and troubleshoot motion control systems, servos, and industrial networks.
• Support robotic systems including basic programming, troubleshooting, and integration.
• Assist with vision systems for part presence, inspection, or guidance applications.
• Participate in implementation of basic Industry 4.0 / IIoT initiatives such as machine connectivity and data collection.
• Troubleshoot automation and controls issues to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Perform root cause analysis of recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with manufacturing and maintenance teams to identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and standardization efforts across manufacturing sites.

Controls Engineer

Associate

• Small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) Pilots are responsible for piloting high end drone systems used for aerial inspections of transmission line structures, among other applications.
• As the Pilot in Command, the sUAS Pilot has ultimate say in ensuring safe flight operations in the field.
• The pilot also will document environmental conditions and known hazards, and coordinate with the project manager or other Valmont personnel to confirm aircraft deconfliction notice filings with customers and the FAA.
• Often, UAS Pilots work in conjunction with a camera operator and a visual observer (VO), and must demonstrate strong teamwork, communication skills and crew resource management.
• UAS Pilots must be able to safely operate drones in close quarters and be able to execute emergency landing procedures in the event of signal loss or other danger (e.g., sudden high winds).
• They will be required to learn and adhere to specific flight SOPs for aerial inspections and for operating within specified weather conditions to ensure safety.
• This position reports to the Principal Pilot and has no direct or indirect reports.
• This role requires heavy travel (60-95%), including overnight stays, to the location of specified UAS projects.
• Communicate clearly and directly with the camera operator (and VO) throughout the duration of each flight.
• Respond immediately to any issues with the drone, whether experienced personally or identified by the camera operator or VO.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and known hazards at all times during flight operations.
• Examine all gear (drone, props, controllers, monitors, batteries) prior to each flight and pause operations if anomalies are found.
• Clean all gear upon return to main office at the end of each day and return items to correct locations for safe storage.
• Maintain daily crew flight and inspection activity logs.
• The sUAS Pilot must have a fundamental understanding of drone functionality and be able to perform routine maintenance checks to identify equipment in need of repair or replacement.
• Since an sUAS Pilot may have to monitor the drone’s equipment while also communicating with the camera operator and VO, they should be capable of multitasking effectively.
• sUAS Pilots also will be responsible for executing safety protocols at the work site including completing written Task Hazard Analysis forms, implement Emergency Action Plans and securing the area for drone flights.

UAS Associate Pilot

Mechanical Engineer

• The primary responsibility of the Electrical Design Engineer is the design and development of new technology products as an integral part of the new product development team.
• The incumbent will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of new technology products including embedded control systems, embedded user interfaces (UI), or remote communication products as defined by the Product Management Team and the customer.
• The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the development of “engineering best practice” procedures and design validation standards.
• The Electrical Design Engineer leads technical design review meetings and provides technical design inputs and direction when needed.
• To provide the end results required by this position, the incumbent follows design and development procedures and recommends updates to these procedures when needed and should continually acquire an increasing knowledge of existing assemblies, stay up to date on manufacturing capabilities, and develop an awareness of the field usage of the products.
• Lead the new product development process for small projects
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, field personnel and other Valmont departments to ensure the most efficient working environment
• Provide detailed project documentation as defined by Product Development procedures
• Maintain appropriate professional competencies to ensure innovative solutions are utilized on new designs
• Follow established design and development procedures and recommend updates to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Electrical Design Engineer

General

• Reports directly to the EHS Manager, with matrixed reporting to the Regional Safety Manager and has no direct or indirect reports
• Executes the annual, site-specific environmental, health and safety targets and objectives for the site to measurably reduce exposure to the to the site’s most significant health and safety risks and environmental impacts
• Function as the site level expert in the company’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) information management system to manage data related to EHS events such as injuries, workers compensation claims, near miss incidents and internal and external inspections, and environmental permits
• Leads the risk assessment process to recognize, evaluate, and control hazards throughout the site
• Manages implementation of the Valmont’s global EHS standards which includes, but is not limited to, Hazardous Energy Control/Lockout, Confined Space Entry and Waste Storage
• Leads the deployment of environment, health and safety teams (e.g., Safety Committee, Green Team, etc.) and facilitates their engagement in ownership of the activities required to maintain compliance, reduce the site’s environment footprint and drive continuous improvement
• Leads the team-based incident investigation process to drive appropriate root cause and corrective actions
• Develops and maintains training processes to ensure that required environmental, health and safety training is defined, addresses required content and is tracked to completion
• Collects data for reporting and permit submittals for multi-media environmental regulatory requirements
• Serves as the site’s initial point-of-contact with national and local environmental, health and safety regulatory agencies
• Successful completion of the Valmont EHS Specialist curriculum within three months of hire
• Daily engagement with employees on the floor to foster a cooperative, engaged safety program

EHS Specialist

Dispatcher

• Accountable for the organizing, coordinating and controlling of all activities related to the execution of the master schedule
• Plan and organize order processing and manage the various situations encountered in the production processes
• Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products to the customer
• Manage any order production and product issues in a timely manner to ensure high customer satisfaction
• Issue and interpret computer shop reports and packets to the Manufacturing shop
• Maintain an attitude that unlawful or unethical actions are not acceptable
• Report and resolve shipping problems and production shortages
• Conduct business on behalf of the Company in full compliance with the laws of the many jurisdictions in which we operate

Production Control Dispatcher

Project Manager

• The Project Manager North American Infrastructure Operations will have the proven ability to lead and direct project teams and run multiple large complex projects from inception to completion.
• Responsibilities include directing and coordinating all resources throughout the lifecycle of the projects by using management techniques to achieve predetermined objectives of scope, quality, time, cost, and customer satisfaction.
• This individual will be responsible for daily coordination of all aspects of the project and act as the communications link between the project teams and Program Leaders.
• This professional is responsible for completing projects with accuracy while monitoring project performance and meeting or exceeding expectations.

Sales

• Develop, lead and manage strong relationships with Tier 1 & Tier 2 clients and key industry decision-makers.
• Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key national accounts.
• Lead solution development and oversee complex technical applications with support from engineering, supply chain and internal project teams.

Regional Sales Lead – T&D

• This position is responsible for structural analysis and design of utility products to be quoted and fabricated.
• The Project Engineer is responsible to support information for ($2M+) large projects, and to work independently and make technical decisions for small, medium and large projects.
• Independently analyze and design products by Finite Element Method (IMPAX design program) and other structural design software taking into consideration both public safety, manufacturability, and minimum cost balancing competitiveness and profitability.
• Interpret customer specifications, customer needs, and market/sales needs.
• Communicate engineering data to the customer and others.
• Support the presentations of steel poles in sales presentations and meetings.
• Recommend changes in design criteria, analysis methods, drafting procedures, and developing new methods and procedures when appropriate.
• Perform aggressive structural designs to be able to design lowest weight / most cost-effective structure (that meets all code and specification requirements) to support competitive bid situation.

Civil/Structural Project Engineer

Designer

• Review and interpret customer contract drawings, specifications, and order instructions
