About the role
- Assist in the design and analysis of overhead and underground electric distribution systems (typically 4kV to 35kV).
- Support the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for utility clients.
- Perform site visits to collect field data and verify existing conditions.
- Use engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD, CYME, SPIDAcalc) to develop design models and layouts.
- Assist with load flow studies, fault analysis, and equipment sizing.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and permitting personnel to ensure comprehensive project solutions.
- Support the preparation of construction packages, cost estimates, and bill of materials.
- Become familiar with, apply, and stay current on utility standards, codes (e.g., NESC, NEC), and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
- 0-3+ years of power distribution engineering experience required
- Attained EIT preferred and on track to obtaining a Professional License (PE) preferred
- Must be able to work in the US now and in the future without sponsorship
- Eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
