About the role
- Take full ownership of the technical strategy and execution of the "Plaud for Teams" product roadmap, driving development of the Android app experience while keeping customer needs and company priorities in sync.
- Lead the "for Team" mobile experience through its entire lifecycle, from early-stage prototyping to launch, with clear milestones guided by Product Led Growth (PLG) principles.
- Design and build delightful, scalable, collaborative user experiences without compromising on privacy, security, or trust.
- Explore and apply the latest advancements in AI and LLMs to strengthen the intelligence and adaptability of the platform.
- Translate complex technical vision into clear direction for stakeholders at every level, including executives, teammates, and non-technical partners.
- Help shape the team by recruiting exceptional talent, mentoring engineers, and championing a hands-on culture of innovation, ownership, and execution.
- Collaborate fluidly across time zones and functions, partnering with product, design, research, hardware, and go-to-market teams to move quickly and stay aligned.
- Deliver Android mobile solutions and take ownership of delivering features end-to-end.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional Android development experience, with proven ability to independently own and deliver features or modules.
- Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and deep familiarity with Android Framework, Jetpack components, and common design patterns.
- Solid understanding of multithreading, networking, and memory management, with hands-on experience in performance tuning and debugging.
- Experience with unit testing, release management, and launching complex Android applications at scale.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to learn quickly, and a collaborative mindset to thrive in a startup environment.
- Experience leading small, focused teams and taking products from concept to launch.
- Ability to translate complex technical vision into clear direction for stakeholders at every level, including executives and non-technical partners.
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and shaping engineering teams.
- Ability to collaborate across time zones and bridge the U.S. and global teams.
- Able to come into either our San Francisco or Seattle offices 2-3 times per week; local candidates may be asked to come at least 3 times per week.
