Business Development Executive

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Reporting to the President, the Business Development Executive is responsible for the development and execution of the business development strategy and sales plans for Util-Assist.
- The successful candidate will lead a team of business development professionals in the establishment of annual sales targets, account plans, and go-to-market strategies to achieve corporate revenue growth objectives.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field; MBA considered an asset
- Minimum 10+ years of sales and business development leadership experience within the utility industry
- Proven success driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic partnerships
- Experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams
- Strong background in enterprise sales, account planning, and revenue forecasting
- Experience with formal sales methodologies and CRM platforms
- Established network within the Canadian utility sector
- Experience managing complex sales pursuits, negotiations, and contract execution
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
- Strong knowledge of sales strategy, business development, and account management
- Deep understanding of the Canadian utility industry and market trends
- Experience with sales methodologies, pipeline management, account planning, and revenue forecasting
- Advanced ability to develop sales and marketing strategies in a technology and professional services environment
- Advanced leadership and team management skills
- Expert negotiation, contract development, and proposal writing skills
- Expert pricing, quote development, and commercial strategy skills
- Strong financial and business acumen, including budgeting and forecasting
- Advanced MS Office and presentation skills
- Experience with CRM systems, sales analytics, and reporting tools
- Knowledge of utility modernization, AMI, and digital transformation initiatives is an asset
