About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and execute agency and sales plans by recruiting and inspiring new agents and deepening existing agency relationships
  • Support Middle Market, Small Commercial, and Specialist lines across commercial business, including Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, and Commercial Package
  • Develop and monitor territorial/state agency plans
  • Lead the agency/territorial review process
  • Manage the full appointment lifecycle: prospecting, soliciting, appointing, developing, and evaluating
  • Administer customer bonus plan components
  • Manage Agency Production Initiatives using marketing tools and submission activity to meet territorial objectives
  • Establish and monitor customer commitments and initiate corrective action when necessary
  • Develop and monitor territorial/state line-of-business growth plans
  • Determine profitability using loss ratios and return on sales measurements
  • Lead loyalty and retention initiatives and build relationships with agencies, industry peers, trade associations, and internal departments
  • Coordinate territory functions, breakfast meetings, training sessions, and product fairs
  • Inform producers about new merchandising areas and product enhancements
  • Execute special projects, including rate reviews and new safety group or mass merchandising programs
  • Educate customers on products, automation, forms, brochures, and company procedures
  • Assist with development of new product/program P&C proposals
  • Gather competitive marketing intelligence on pricing, coverages, and market actions
  • Perform other assigned duties and follow corporate policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years' experience in P&C Commercial Lines marketing or underwriting preferred
  • In-depth understanding of the insurance industry, including competitors, trends, and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead talent toward a common goal
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Significant insurance education, such as INS, AU, CPCU, or demonstrated willingness to pursue insurance education strongly recommended
  • Field-based role in Virginia
  • Full-time salaried, exempt position (non-overtime eligible)
