About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer utilities
- Search designated areas for underground utilities
- Accurately mark utility locations
- Complete required documentation and photograph each locate
- Work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle
- Provide clear and complete mark-out services for excavators or property owners
- Work daytime, full-time schedules with 48-hour turnaround times on many locates
- Work after holidays and some weekends as needed
- Perform overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, based on business needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Previous outdoor experience is a plus
- Proficiency with technology
- Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
- Able to pass a drug screen for this safety-sensitive position
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
- Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints
- Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
