About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Locate underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer utilities
  • Search designated areas for underground utilities
  • Accurately mark utility locations
  • Complete required locate documentation
  • Photograph each locate
  • Provide clear and complete mark-out services for excavators or property owners
  • Work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle
  • Meet a 48-hour turnaround time on many locates
  • Work after holidays and some weekends as needed
  • Take overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends, based on business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Previous outdoor experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
  • Ability to pass a drug screen for this safety-sensitive position
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
  • Ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
  • No prior locating experience is needed
