About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides administrative support for Corporate Counsel
  • Composes letters, legal documents, spreadsheets, graphs, presentations, reports, and other department documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Maintains highly confidential files and correspondence
  • Performs general administrative functions, including answering and redirecting phone calls, typing, copying, scanning, filing, faxing, and routing mail
  • Proofreads prepared materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, syntax, and content
  • Creates, updates, and maintains electronic and paper departmental files, including saving files and logging events in the department database
  • Prepares legal documents and files to support in-house legal counsel
  • Maintains departmental workflow for multiple projects and documents
  • Provides back-up assistance to others in the department
  • Assists with miscellaneous projects and performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in paralegal or legal administrative assisting, OR high school diploma/equivalent with a minimum of three years’ legal assisting and/or administrative experience
  • Exceptionally detail oriented to produce extremely accurate work
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal terminology
  • Thorough knowledge and skills using Windows personal computers, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Word, Adobe, and Excel
  • Proficient use of the Internet to gather and research information
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Competency working in a multi-task environment
  • Courteous and professional oral and written communication skills, with emphasis on proper English and correct grammar usage
  • Capable of independently identifying, researching, and resolving problems
  • Comfortable with routine tasks and working in a quiet, structured environment
  • Basic mathematical skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
  • Ability to work overtime as departmental needs may require
  • Notary Certification is a plus
