About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Independently manage simple to moderate Property and Casualty insurance subrogation cases from pre-suit through litigation and trial
Handle and/or assist with complex litigation cases
Appear in court for arbitrations, trials, and mediations
Provide legal advice to clients and P&C Claims team members
Develop legal strategy and ongoing budget projections for Claims Litigation and clients
Prepare pleadings, motions, statements, memoranda, trial briefs, and other legal documents
Conduct direct settlement negotiations with plaintiffs' attorneys
Stay current on relevant statutes, case law, office technology, and trial-related technology
Attend assigned courses to maintain trial skills
Train support staff, P&C Claims, and Claims Litigation on changes in law, litigation, and other processes
Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures
Travel to trials, hearings, depositions, and other case-related proceedings as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
6 years of experience practicing law handling personal injury, civil litigation, or trial cases
Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction(s) to be served
Experience practicing law in the court systems within the geographic area being served
Ability to perform online legal research
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Active bar admission in Florida preferred as a differentiator, with experience handling subrogation, insurance recovery, defense matters, auto property damage, or liability claims
Demonstrated understanding of carrier recovery strategies
Ability to independently manage litigation from intake through trial, including depositions, motion practice, mediation, and courtroom advocacy
Track record of favorable litigation outcomes
Success maximizing recovery through negotiations, settlements, and litigation planning
Strong analytical skills for evaluating liability, damages, and cost-benefit scenarios
US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner is a differentiator
Must not require visa sponsorship or immigration support now or in the future
