About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead strategic direction across data domains covering information governance, data management, data quality, information architecture, and information asset management
- Work within the Agile community and with leadership to prioritize and fund capability delivery across the Association and data domains
- Direct and collaborate with business and IT partners to use information governance and management capabilities to achieve operational and strategic objectives
- Advise leadership on institutionalizing and maturing information governance, data management, data quality, information architecture, and information asset management capabilities
- Advise on mitigating risk and addressing regulatory requirements related to information governance and management
- Partner with business, risk, compliance, architecture, and IT teams to improve the effectiveness and value of data governance and management processes
- Ensure team activities align with information governance, data management, data quality, information architecture, technical solutions, and information asset management activities
- Direct team work assignments, problem resolution, risk mitigation, and quality work production
- Provide leadership, motivation, oversight, and an environment for building high-performing teams
- Collaborate with Association stakeholders to define capabilities that deliver business value and solve business challenges
- Ensure business activity risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled according to risk and compliance policies and procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Data and Analytics, Information Technology, Business, Finance, Risk, Audit, or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
- 8+ years of experience in information or data-related practices, including information governance, data management, information management, information architecture, information technology, risk, audit, analysis, and reporting; OR an advanced degree and 6+ years of related experience
- 3+ years of direct team lead or management experience
- Expert knowledge of industry information/data governance best practices, information technology best practices, architecture roadmaps, and capability maps
- Experience leading teams, peers, and leadership levels across complex problem-solving activities, domains, or regulatory drivers
- Experience leading, developing, or operationalizing data management and/or data governance policies, standards, processes, procedures, and technologies
- Experience leading Agile delivery activities across people, process, and technology
- Experience leading enterprise data governance and data management strategies within a complex organization
- Experience with data privacy, data classification, sensitive data management, or privacy-by-design practices
- Strong knowledge of data management principles and practices aligned with DAMA-DMBOK knowledge areas
- Experience establishing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, standards, practices, and operating models
- Strong experience with data quality management, including standards, controls, monitoring, issue identification, and remediation
- Experience establishing and maintaining data lineage and traceability for critical data assets
- Experience with regulatory reporting and requirements supporting regulatory obligations in a highly regulated environment
- Financial services, insurance, banking, or other highly regulated industry experience
- CDMP certification strongly preferred
- CIMP, IGP, DCAM, or equivalent data management/information governance certifications preferred
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
- Must not require immigration support now or in the future; USAA does not provide visa sponsorship
