About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead warehouse safety procedures, processes, and training to maintain a safety-first culture.
- Oversee, coach, train, and develop warehouse associates.
- Direct workforce planning, workflow, productivity, engagement, and retention.
- Interview and hire warehouse personnel with Sr. Warehouse Managers.
- Review performance, coach productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
- Direct associates to achieve accurate orders and oversee staging, loading, shipping, and receiving preparation.
- Monitor mis-picks, productivity reports, shift rates, and preferred methods.
- Designate dock locations, ensure proper product stocking using food safety and FIFO procedures, monitor replenishment, and oversee will call.
- Maintain warehouse and equipment condition and prepare repair work orders and equipment requisitions.
- Identify inventory shrink sources and recommend expense and cost-control improvements.
- Inspect the facility for safety hazards and resolve or report them.
- Ensure Master Sanitation Schedule and FSQA requirements are followed.
- Schedule working shifts using planning tools such as Microsoft Excel.
- Supervise union and/or non-union warehouse associates, including loaders, selectors, receivers, and forklift drivers.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution required.
- Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
- Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
- Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in normal warehouse, cooler, and freezer environments with temperatures as low as -5 degrees.
- 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- HACCP certification a plus.
- PCQI certification a plus.
- Must be able to perform the listed physical activities and lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, bending, reaching, twisting, grasping, and manipulation requirements.
