About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work with the Buyer to create timely, customer-oriented product assortments that meet or exceed department sales and profit plans
Determine the overall product mix for each buying area with the Buyer
Provide feedback on products in style-out and product-related meetings
Contribute to product development-heavy classes with Buyer and vendor partners
Provide ad hoc statistical reports to Buyers
Maintain accurate buy sheets by class
Maintain Excel reports for buyers and planners
Photograph samples and maintain sample photo logs or libraries
Create and revise purchase orders
Collaborate with Vendor Relations to onboard new vendors
Maintain and update class attributes
Track merchandise receipts to ensure timely delivery
Manage receipts alongside OTB availability and collaborate on shifting orders or receipts
Support pre-classing and pack-and-holds
Manage department samples, including obtaining, returning, organizing, and clearing samples
Manage weekly photo handover for new web product photography
Communicate clearly in meetings and email correspondence
Represent and speak confidently about the Urban Outfitters brand and customer to market vendors
Manage email streams across a diverse vendor database and update the manager on vendor feedback
Develop collaborative relationships with planning, creative, distribution center, and other internal and external teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

1 to 2 years in retail, a direct buying office, or as a member of a store management team is preferred
Understanding of the Urban Outfitters target customer and ability to select appropriate products and trends
Fundamental understanding of statistical business components, including IMU%, MD%, GM%, selloff, WOS, and OTB
Professional verbal and written communication style
Strong presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to prioritize immediate and long-term business needs with a high sense of urgency
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to learn new computer systems quickly and retain information
