About the role

  • Collaborate with the Designer and Director of Sourcing to support and maintain the seasonal development calendar.
  • Execute assigned design development projects as directed by the Design Director or Designer.
  • Prepare development packages and coordinate all related communication and follow-up in partnership with the Design Coordinator.
  • Oversee the development and execution of trim packages to ensure design integrity and consistency.
  • Create and maintain spec sheets for all garment bodies, clearly communicating fit and construction details to the Technical Design team.
  • Complete all technical sketches for both domestic and international programs.
  • Manage weekly fit sessions, ensuring the Design, Merchandising, and Production (DMM) team is present and actively engaged in the process.
  • Any significant design changes must receive DMM approval prior to updates being made to the spec.
  • Play an active role in weekly Design Flow Meetings—take detailed notes and follow up on all outstanding items to ensure alignment and progress across teams.

Requirements

  • Exceptional communicator with a proven track record of effective cross-functional collaboration across Buying, Production, and Design teams.
  • Strong team player who thrives in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop innovative, cost-effective design solutions that align with brand and business objectives.
  • Deep technical knowledge of apparel construction across knit, woven, and/or sweater categories.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fabrics, trims, and material applications, with a keen eye for quality and detail.
  • Well-versed in fabric treatments, garment washes, and dyeing techniques , bringing depth and character to product development.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production methods for knit, woven, and/or sweater apparel.
  • Skilled in trend research and forecasting , with the ability to anticipate color, fabric, and design direction 9–12 months ahead of the season.
  • Strong ability to identify and translate emerging fashion and cultural trends into concepts that resonate with the Anthropologie customer.
  • Proficient in CAD software , with the ability to clearly communicate design concepts through precise and visually compelling technical sketches.
