About the role

  • Manages Raw Materials regionally for the brand with limited guidance and supervision from supervisor.
  • Contributes to department goals in terms of quality, cost, regional penetration and lead time.
  • Responsible for benchmarking and assisting with negotiating fabric price and lead time.
  • Supports the US team for production tracking, Material PO and inventory management.
  • Impacts the business positively at a process level through the recommendation of strategies to effect KPI’s.
  • Identifies problems that could effect these.
  • Understands the brand aesthetic and is able to make suggestions on fabric qualities and mills to support this for their region.
  • Supplies innovative product in line with the brand aesthetic regularly.
  • Challenges mills on costing and lead time for their region, based on an understanding of regional fabric costing and lead time.
  • Can review test reports and bulk issues - has an understanding if there is a problem.
  • Has strong mill relationships that relate to their region.
  • Engineering of fabric developments independently.
  • Recognizes tasks required to meet expectations and key milestones.
  • Adherence to calendar and the process in terms of development no’s and sourcing requests.
  • Ability to call out potential issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in textile sourcing or merchandising for a fashion retailer based in the US.
  • Solid knowledge of fabric, machinery and fabric manufacturing for their category.
  • Understands the technical requirements of their categories.
  • Understands RM impact on fabric economics.
  • Ability to assess a mill profile at a basic level.
  • Understands KPI reports and adds data to them to be generated accurately.
  • Can work independently within the PLM system with accuracy.
  • Understands the ownership chart as a working tool and makes informed decisions on ownership action.
  • Strong communication and presentations skills.
  • Qualifications in Textiles.
