About the role
- Lead technical discovery workshops to define client needs, challenge assumptions, and translate complex business objectives into a strategic and scalable technical vision.
- Partner with sales and account teams during the pre-sales cycle, acting as the primary technical authority in client presentations and workshops.
- Architect solutions for proposals, RFPs, and Statements of Work (SOWs), providing clear estimates, identifying technical risks, and outlining the value of our proposed solution.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal stakeholders, articulating complex architectural decisions and their impact on business outcomes.
- Design high-level and detailed architecture for CMS-based and headless web applications, including component structure, data flow, APIs, hosting strategy, and third-party integrations.
- Evaluate and select the ideal technology stacks, platforms, and third-party services that align with client requirements and long-term strategic goals.
- Own and document the end-to-end system design through clear architecture diagrams, data models, and technical specifications that serve as the blueprint for development.
- Provide architectural governance and technical oversight to development teams, ensuring the final implementation aligns perfectly with the architectural vision and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating and championing emerging technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns that enhance Urban Insight's service offerings.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in technical architecture, full-stack web development, or technical strategy, ideally within a digital agency or consulting environment.
- Deep experience with Drupal and WordPress, including site architecture, custom development, and deployment.
- Understanding of headless CMS, composable architectures, and integrations via RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Strong knowledge of LAMP stack, hosting environments, and cloud services.
- Familiarity with performance optimization, accessibility standards (WCAG), security best practices, and SEO considerations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Comfortable writing technical specifications and leading discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with clients.
- Experience with technical backlog management and cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to think strategically about technical ecosystems and long-term maintainability.
- Skilled at creating architecture documentation, workflows, and decision-making frameworks.
