About the role
- Lead the design and development of precision tooling, inserts, and fixtures for epoxy molding and encapsulation.
- Create detailed CAD, drawings, and specifications that support both rapid iteration and high-volume manufacturing.
- Drive experimentation to evaluate new tooling concepts, material behaviors, and process conditions.
- Collaborate closely with Materials Science, Product Design, and Manufacturing Engineering to integrate new tools into Oura’s production workflows.
- Partner with global manufacturing teams and suppliers to prototype, build, qualify, and scale new tooling solutions.
- Support the development of process documentation, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years (Senior) or 10+ years (Staff) of experience in tooling design, molding processes, or high-precision manufacturing.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred) and engineering drawing practices.
- Experience developing tooling for epoxy molding, encapsulation, or polymer-based manufacturing processes.
- Ability to run experiments, collect data, analyze results, and translate insights into design or process improvements.
- Experience collaborating with automation, equipment vendors, and global manufacturing partners.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
