About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Fully and independently supports lab operations through staff supervision and/or maintenance of equipment
- Supports and is actively involved in upgrades to equipment
- Presents educational and quality assurance information at staff meetings
- Assumes charge responsibilities and precepts new staff
- Reviews scheduled patients and anticipates and resolves problems for the night staff
- Develops and establishes procedures and schedules to meet operation needs
- Works with leadership team on related personnel actions, including hiring and performance management activities
- Provides Evidenced Based Practice educational updates
- Reviews studies of trainees and provides feedback
- Develops standard operating procedures and lab forms
- Develops and tracks appropriate quality assurance indicators for the lab
- Calls patients who are direct referrals to obtain and document a medical history for review by the Sleep Center physicians as requested
- Provides expert care to patients on nights or for daytime studies as needed
- Identifies varied cardiac rhythm abnormalities
- Ensures equipment is checked and “out of service” equipment is repaired and routed to vendor as appropriate
- Communicates with office staff regarding problems with equipment that impacts patient scheduling
- Manages hard drives and the server
- Orders disposable and reusable equipment with cost efficiency in mind
- Facilitates equipment upgrades and educates staff as to changes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's degree in Polysomnography Technologist and 3 years experience in polysomnographic testing required
- Bachelor's degree in health care related field preferred
- AASM - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (NYS Licensure) upon hire required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support certified or CPR upon hire required
- POLYSOM - Polysomnographic Tech (Registered) upon hire required
- RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographer Technologist upon hire required
- Customer service skills, computer use agility, ability to work well in a team preferred
