About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with research activities, including quality control coding and environmental data management
- Apply technical expertise to water quality monitoring, sampling and evaluation programs
- Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot scientific and technical equipment
- Prepare reports, figures, presentations and research outputs supporting evidence-based decision making
- Contribute to the Great Barrier Reef Catchment Loads Monitoring Program and associated Reef Catchments Science Partnership initiatives
- Work with scientists, policymakers, industry and community stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor of Science or Environmental Science
- Demonstrated practical research skills and experience in environmental monitoring and evaluation
- Experience using water quality monitoring equipment and environmental datasets, or the ability to quickly develop these capabilities
- Experience using R and/or Python for data manipulation and statistical analysis, or a willingness to develop these skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- A current Australian C-class Driver's Licence and willingness to undertake regional travel as required
- Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment
- Ability to provide a cover letter addressing the selection criteria and a resume
