About the role
- Drive a new vaccine development project.
- Spearhead research projects and manage day-to-day operations.
- Contribute to the design, execution, and analysis of experiments.
- Assist in vaccine efficacy studies, including animal models, and evaluate serological responses.
- Support applications for competitive research funding and publish in reputable journals.
- Assist with supervision of students and provide performance feedback and training to research support staff.
Requirements
- Completion of a PhD in immunology with microbiology experience.
- An emerging profile in research in immunology and evidence of publications in recognised reputable refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
- Basic understanding of immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry.
- Advanced experience with flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA assays, microbiology, immunology studies, tissue culture, bacterial culture and aseptic technique, laboratory animal handling and procedures.
- Skills in bioinformatics would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of OH&S guidelines and laboratory safety.
- Ability to quickly acquire new laboratory techniques and to perform them routinely at a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to plan, execute and interpret research in a semi-independent/independent manner.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
