About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and contribute to a coherent research program in infectious diseases or microbiology, with a focus on the design, delivery and analysis of international clinical trials, including the TREAT-GNB platform trial
  • Produce high-quality research outputs and contribute to competitive funding applications
  • Contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
  • Support junior researchers through feedback and guidance, fostering a positive and high-performing research culture
  • Actively contribute to the life of the Institute through collaboration, internal service roles, emerging external partnerships, and by upholding University values

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline area (infectious diseases, microbiology or a closely related field)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the design and management of clinical trials, ideally including initiation and monitoring of overseas sites
  • Strong understanding of antimicrobial resistance in bacterial pathogens, including global epidemiology and relevant clinical and microbiological terminology
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, data science, epidemiology and/or modelling, with the ability to translate complex data into publishable insights
  • An emerging research profile evidenced by publications in reputable refereed journals and presentations at conferences
  • Capacity to contribute to research funding activity, collaborative team-based projects, and meaningful internal service and external engagement
