About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the Reconciliation team, a full-stack group responsible for Upside’s transaction-matching pipeline across Kotlin Multiplatform front-end and Python + Java back-end systems
Own the post-claim experience, including transaction verification, cashback awards, and user recovery when issues occur
Build a safe, collaborative team and invite open discussion
Drive improvements in quality, performance, speed, and engineering standards
Coach engineers, recognize achievements, and support skill development
Set clear expectations so the team can operate independently
Define and evolve the team’s domain, including offer reconciliation, post-claim consumer experiences, receiptful/receiptless transaction flows, and self-heal capabilities
Champion accuracy, reliability, observability, scalability, security, resilience, and production readiness across the reconciliation stack
Contribute hands-on in high-leverage areas as a player-coach
Model effective use of generative AI for development, debugging, and system understanding
Partner with Product, Design, Data, Consumer Ops, and external partners on roadmap and strategy
Collaborate with other engineering leaders on organizational and technical strategy across Consumer and Partnerships platforms

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of engineering management experience
Leadership track record scaling teams and improving systems amid ambiguity
Technical depth across mobile and API infrastructure
Familiarity with back-end data tools such as Snowflake and Hex
Hands-on familiarity with mobile and API development patterns
Experience or knowledge of serverless, event-driven, REST, and microservices architectures
Familiarity with MVI and Clean Architecture is a plus
AWS experience is a plus
Curiosity about generative AI for software development and improvement
Ability to work in a hybrid office arrangement with in-office attendance Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
Ability to work in the United States; application asks whether immigration sponsorship or support will be required
