Maintain and manage all datasets in the Health Analytics Department, including external data streams.
Provide strategic direction for data management of Inflexxion-owned datasets, as well as other project-based datasets, including but not limited to architecture, migration, organization, extraction and creation of analysis datasets.
Prepare datasets and related documentation including coding manuals and quality control records for ongoing projects and regulatory submissions.
Write SAS code to create, clean and lock datasets, and to manipulate and transform data according to analysis plans/specifications provided by epidemiologists and biostatisticians for surveillance reporting, surveys, grant projects, client deliverables, scientific papers and other assignments.
Conduct data quality verification checks on datasets prior to analysis.
Create standards and best practices for data management and programming to meet the needs of the Health Analytics Department and comply with regulatory requirements.
Define and anticipate processes for databases/datasets creation and maintenance to maximize multipurpose uses.
Communicate regularly with team members about work status and project progress.
Assist in development, documentation and implementation of work instructions to ensure integrity of department data management and associated datasets.
Analyze current and projected future database performance requirements; fine-tune or recommend equipment/software changes when necessary.
Participate actively as a team member on company committees specifically addressing data integrity and database quality improvements.
Collaborate with the Uprise Health Team to write specifications for data variable definitions, content of analysis datasets and data acquisition from all proprietary data streams and assist in problem solving data discrepancies within datasets.
Interact with technical support team and vendors to schedule upgrades, modifications, and required maintenance to software and to prevent system failures.
Peer-programmer vendor oversight, including allocation of work, monitoring progress, quality control and other related activities.
Serve as liaison for Health Analytics with other departments regarding overall data quality, security and automation processes.
Oversight of related policies and procedures for data management and programming.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, social science or related field required although Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience conducting data management with SAS, including preparation of datasets for analyses and coding for data outputs.
Proficient with SAS administration tasks including adding/deleting users, stopping and starting services, etc.
Expert level programming skills using SAS specific to advanced data manipulation, complicated programming logic, and large data volume.
Ability to read and interpret existing SQL code to verify correct code.
Developing sophisticated SAS or other macro applications.
Handling large data sets and relational databases with SAS (including SAS Base, Stats, Graph, Macros, and the Output Delivery System (ODS)).
Experienced user of Python or PERL will be helpful for historical programs.
Must have detailed and thorough knowledge of manipulating data in Excel and MS-Access, including the ability to write queries and call existing functions to manipulate data and analyze results.
Certified SAS Advanced or certification in SAS Base and Advanced Programming, SAS Macro, SQL development desired.
Knowledge and experience with Transact-SQL is a plus.
Demonstrated independent capability to write SAS programs and code, manipulate data sets to convert and merge data files, and perform quality checks of datasets and output.
Must be able to design, understand, execute and verify thorough data validation and quality control of imported data.
Must have the ability to translate business requirements into database queries.
Ability to manage client deliverables, including the delivery of client data files through various file sharing systems.
Ability to contribute to the development of reports and analysis.
Review new software as it becomes available and assist with implementation of new or upgraded software.
When necessary, interface and manage relationships with vendors related to data management and analysis products.
Ability to work with minimal supervision on complex projects.
Proficient with MS Office Suite applications.
Interface and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to create and maintain documented procedures for all data handling and analysis practices.
