About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supporting Unum’s Total Leave teams through deep expertise in Fineos and custom Fineos development
  • Researching and evaluating third-party and cloud technologies to drive efficient integrations and modernize solution capabilities
  • Building and/or configuring software solutions within their business portfolio with little to no oversight
  • Collaborating with their agile team members and leveraging unit testing and continuous integration
  • Estimating work required to deliver software features
  • Applying critical thinking skills to solution design and implementation for delivering business value
  • Mentoring Software Engineers and Associate Software Engineers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science is preferred, or equivalent relevant business experience
  • 4+ years experience with demonstrated success in software development or equivalent experience
  • Strong Java development skills, including J2EE technologies (JSP, JMS) and integrations (Web Services, APIs)
  • Experience with Fineos Admin Suite (Claims) configurations and Java customizations
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL) and strong SQL query skills
  • Analytical ability and critical thinking skills
  • Logical, analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies
  • Self motivated and results oriented
  • Innovative approach to problem solving
  • Able to solve complex technical problems and drive system optimizations
  • Focus on quality delivery and delighting customers; holds self to high standards of delivery
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player; able to work effectively within a team and more broadly with people from a variety of backgrounds and areas across the organization.
