About the role
- Work closely with a Product Owner, Scrum team, and business partners to turn business needs into clear, actionable user stories and requirements
- Help ensure the team has a well‑prepared backlog, support sprint planning and refinement sessions, and assist with demos and solution validation
- Maintain a holistic understanding of the IT Delivery roadmap and ensure changes are accurately reflected in backlog tools to support automated roadmaps, reporting, and metrics
- Ensure product and adoption KPIs can be effectively measured within development and delivery activities by identifying needed data points early in the agile process
- Maintain a clear understanding of client personas and use them to refine work items and ensure alignment with customer needs
- Ensure integrity of work items as they are decomposed and refined across the backlog hierarchy, identifying gaps, descoping risks, or needs for additional requirement gathering
- Ensure key information needed for Product Owner prioritization is current, accurate, and available in usable formats
- Ensure functional and non-functional requirements are clearly represented and documented in the product backlog
- Ensure backlog items meet the Definition of Ready/Done and align with enterprise planning horizons, maintaining high content quality and data integrity
- Identify, gather, and analyze data from relevant sources to support processes impacted by new solutions
- Select and use the most effective techniques and tools (e.g., BlueWorks for process mapping, Excel) to represent and trace business requirements
- Model best practices aligned with product-area methodologies (e.g., Customer Journey, Agile, Program Execution Framework)
- Continuously improve and expand tools and practices within the Business Analysis discipline
- Mentor peers on business analysis best practices, tools, and emerging market or technology trends
- Conduct industry research and apply insights to business context and solution design
- Ensure documentation and change controls are in place for production deployments and transition to production support teams
- Elicit requirements using appropriate techniques (personas, user stories, story maps) and partner with Product Owners to create and elaborate backlog items with clear acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with Product Owners to groom and prioritize backlog items
- Lead the creation of concise, effective user stories and ensure acceptance criteria clearly reflect stakeholder intent
- Define detailed design and acceptance criteria for user stories on a just‑in‑time basis
- Review acceptance criteria with engineers and testers to ensure clarity, testability, and alignment with automated testing practices
- Coordinate or support acceptance testing with business partners and the agile team
- Lead story decomposition and process mapping to ensure the right level of detail for planning
- Collaborate with the agile team, Scrum Master, and Product Owner during planning to agree on sprint deliverables
- Maintain detailed knowledge of assigned business processes and suggest improvements
- Gather requirements related to personas and user experiences; support information architecture and partner with UX to ensure an excellent user experience
- Evaluate native capabilities of third‑party or cloud solutions; configure layouts, workflows, reporting, and dashboards when applicable
- Support internal test execution, including documentation, defect tracking, and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and testers to ensure delivered features meet or exceed Product Owner expectations; contribute to solution design discussions
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date information in ALM tools and communicate progress, plans, and impediments during daily stand-ups
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years’ experience working on an agile team
- Strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail
- Passion for business goals, customer experience, and operational outcomes
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to document and communicate requirements clearly
- Strong team collaboration skills with the ability to work across diverse groups
- Ability to solve complex business problems while driving customer and operational value
- Innovative, self‑motivated, and results‑oriented
- IIBA certifications a plus
