About the role
- Lead and oversee day-to-day Accounts Receivable (AR) operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with company objectives.\n
- Continuously evaluate and implement improvements to AR processes, internal controls, and systems to support efficient and accurate month-end close.\n
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing for all customer shipments.\n
- Drive collections efforts and perform customer credit assessments to reduce DSO, minimize overdue balances, and manage credit limits and risk exposure.\n
- Oversee cash application processes, ensuring prompt and accurate payment posting.\n
- Analyze and code customer deductions using Modus and other tools; collaborate with Sales, FP&A, and customers to resolve discrepancies.\n
- Manage and mentor one current AR team member and help scale the team as the business grows.\n
- Set clear performance goals and KPIs (e.g., DSO, collection efficiency, resolution time).\n
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\n
- Act as the main AR liaison with Sales, Customer Service, FP&A, and the broader Finance team.\n
- Participate in customer meetings to resolve disputes or payment issues, as needed.\n
- Partner with Sales and FP&A to align on trade spend accuracy and timely deduction processing using Modus.\n
- Support broader net working capital initiatives across the organization.\n
- Champion the transition from Airtable to Modus while leveraging systems capabilities to improve AR automation, reporting, visibility, and drive overall system adoption and efficiency.\n
- Analyze AR aging reports and trends; recommend actions to improve collections and cash flow.\n
- Provide weekly reporting to leadership on AR performance, key metrics, risk areas, customer spending patterns, and trade program effectiveness.
Requirements
- 5–7 years years of progressive Accounts Receivable experience, preferably in retail-focused CPG or manufacturing environments. Experience with trade spend, deduction management, and enforcing deduction policies – including collecting invalid deductions – is highly preferred.\n
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\n
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems; NetSuite experience preferred.\n
- Experience with trade deduction management tools; familiarity with Modus is a strong plus.\n
- Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets and extract actionable insights.\n
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively across functions and levels.\n
- Proactive leader with a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset.\n
- Customer-centric and solutions-oriented, with the ability to handle difficult conversations with tact and professionalism.\n
- Prior people management experience required.
