About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement scalable, reliable backend systems - from architecture through production deployment.
Harden and optimize the platform for stability, performance, and release readiness.
Lead implementation of backend services, APIs, and data models with a strong focus on maintainability strategies.
Experience in data modeling and working on No SQL database like MongoDB as Unqork heavily uses MongoDB.
Set technical standards and establish best practices across code quality, architecture, and system design.
Act as a hands-on technical leader reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and improving performance where needed.
Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and Design to translate business problems into well-structured technical solutions.
Hands on experience with ability to utilize AI for development and analysis.
Ask the right technical questions early to clarify requirements and reduce downstream risk.
Help define engineering roadmaps, technical milestones, and delivery metrics.
Improve development workflows and processes to increase team velocity and reliability.

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of relevant backend engineering experience building production systems.
Proven experience designing and implementing complex software systems end-to-end.
Understands Database Modeling, managing complex Database Transactions, and ensuring data integrity across distributed systems.
Strong experience with API design.
Deep knowledge of data modeling, normalization, query optimization, and indexing.
Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
Experience building REST and/or GraphQL services.
Strong proficiency in a modern backend language (Node.js preferred).
Experience shipping highly reliable systems in cloud environments.
Ability to operate independently while contributing to broader technical direction.
Experience working across cross-functional teams to deliver complex product features.
