About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and direct staff implementation of advancement initiatives and programs aligned with the strategic plan
- Collaborate with unit leadership to deliver program messaging to internal and external audiences
- Serve as liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups and represent unit interests
- Evaluate advancement strategy effectiveness and recommend improvements
- Identify, promote, and maintain external partnerships
- Lead integrated marketing, communications, development, donor engagement, 4-H alumni relations, and public relations strategies
- Increase awareness of Positive Youth Development and 4-H programs
- Strengthen engagement with 4-H alumni and supporters and cultivate entry-level donor relationships
- Support fundraising activities, events, educational programs, staff retreats, and in-person meetings
- Provide leadership for student staff members and contribute to collaborative Institute administration
Requirements
What you’ll need- Five years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications, or philanthropy
- Demonstrated leadership experience directing projects, campaigns, or teams with proven outcomes
- Experience developing and implementing marketing, communications, fundraising, or stakeholder engagement strategies
- Experience building relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, including alumni groups
- Bachelor's degree in marketing and communications, public relations, nonprofit management, business, education, youth development, community development, or related fields
- Valid driver's license and reliable independent transportation for periodic in-state work travel, or compliance with UW-Madison vehicle use authorization requirements
- Eligibility to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship by the effective date of appointment
- Preferred: previous supervisory experience
- Preferred: fundraising/annual giving experience with demonstrated ability to meet benchmarks
- Preferred: higher education or Cooperative Extension experience
- Preferred: 4-H Positive Youth Development experience or knowledge
- Preferred: experience building organizational capacity through training and support
- Preferred: CRM and marketing technology experience
- Preferred: budget management experience
- Employment may require a criminal background check and reference questions regarding misconduct
