About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The Scientist will be working on research design, data collection, modeling, dissemination, and research coordination on carbon dioxide removal technologies.
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to carbon dioxide removal innovation and scale-up such as grants, patents, investments, purchases, deployment, and other indicators.
  • Designing and implementing carbon dioxide removal scenarios to be implemented in a state-of-the-art global integrated assessment model, the Global Change Analysis Model.
  • Preparing high quality reports and journal articles on the results targeted at top scientific publications.
  • Collaborating with other researchers on the project and assisting in the preparation of reports and new grants related to these topics.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Doctoral training in energy modeling energy systems innovation and decarbonization, including incorporating methods in decision-making under uncertainty.
  • Postdoctoral research experience in multi-sector modeling, including running the global change analysis model (GCAM).
  • Postdoctoral research experience in carbon dioxide removal and its role decarbonization scenarios.
  • Experience working in a team environment and performing data analysis and modeling related to energy innovation, including work on reports for policy and industry audiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including excellent data visualization skills.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students on energy and decarbonization projects.
