About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and deploying digital platforms, related systems, and email communications supporting alumni and donor engagement
  • Build and maintain websites
  • Configure website hosting platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website performance issues
  • Design, test, and modify programming code
  • Analyze user needs and business processes to create programming solutions
  • Evaluate programming code for validity, compatibility, and compliance with standards
  • Generate reports on status, operation, and software maintenance
  • Conduct needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements
  • Support management and maintenance of existing digital properties, including the University’s donate platform and website ecosystem
  • Collaborate with web developers and designers to meet accessibility, branding, and safety standards
  • Provide training, documentation, and code reviews for other web developers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, web development, or related field, formal training in web development, or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three years in a website development and technical support role for a large organization
  • Experience coding custom WordPress themes from scratch using Gutenberg Blocks
  • Experience building landing pages and microsites and configuring APIs on Luminate Online
  • Experience with MySQL and designing schemas for small applications
  • Experience with Git or similar source control
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience designing and developing to WCAG 2.0 Level 2 standard as per AODA Communications and Information Standards
  • Experience pulling Google Analytics reports and setting up Looker Studio dashboards
  • Proficiency in PHP and WordPress
  • Experience with Laravel unit testing and manual/automated testing
  • Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, jQuery, Vue.js, CSS, Bootstrap, and HTML
  • Knowledge of MVC-based frameworks, including Laravel backend and Vue.js frontend
  • Knowledge of REST-based APIs and Luminate Online’s donation API
  • Thorough understanding of web-based client/server technologies in a LAMP environment
  • Database design and construction skills using MySQL and schema creation in Laravel
  • Deep knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Looker Studio
  • Adaptable, approachable, cooperative, diligent, able to multitask, and a problem solver
