Events Coordinator
University of Toronto EntrepreneurshipEvents and Marketing Coordinator at the University of Toronto planning events and marketing initiatives. Enhancing student recruitment and community engagement for the electrical and computer engineering department.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinating the schedule for program and event calendars
- Analyzing client needs and making recommendations on event logistics and options
- Implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and objectives
- Implementing marketing and advertising plans to increase revenue-generating activities
- Researching and identifying opportunities to promote programs and initiatives
- Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in conceptualizing, organizing and executing events in a complex organization, preferably within a higher education or public sector environment
- Demonstrated experience with full-cycle event planning for a high volume of events, including marketing, registration, and post-event evaluation
- Demonstrated experience analyzing client needs and making recommendations on event logistics and options
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with promotions, including writing and editing promotional copy for websites, social media channels, print materials, etc.
- Experience includes demonstrated success in professionally executed events involving multiple stakeholders, and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and vendors
- Demonstrated experience developing and organizing the logistics of numerous/multi-day events within tight and conflicting timeframes
- Knowledge of, and experience in, scheduling and tracking the status of events and classroom activities
- Experience planning events in compliance with AODA
- Demonstrated experience handling event expenses, collaborating on cost estimates, and preparing financial summary reports
- Superior planning and project management skills and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, as well as proficiency in using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
- Must be able to handle working on multiple projects; demonstrate sound judgement under pressure and stress, as well as maturity and poise required to interact with senior executives
- A team player with sensitivity to various levels of expectations from executives, faculty and staff and students
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and build consensus
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
