Technology Project Manager
University of Tennessee College of Arts & SciencesTechnology Project Manager overseeing complex IT projects for the University of Tennessee Office of Innovative Technologies. Leading project teams and ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage complex technology projects that usually involve multiple internal groups or involve a number of outside stakeholders.
- Lead the project team, typically from 4 - 30 members, defining and assigning project tasks.
- Define key milestones, monitor progress on tasks and total project timelines.
- Anticipate problems and help find solutions.
- Anticipate project risks and mitigation, documenting those at the beginning of the project.
- Track project budgets of tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- Participate in the development and improvement of project management processes and procedures.
- Creating, writing, and updating project management documentation.
- Create and edit user documentation for the PPM tool, project workflow, and internal documentation for PMO staff.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience: Minimum three years’ professional experience managing IT projects or project management in another field with demonstrated track record of delivery projects on time, within budget & scope, and to stakeholders’ satisfaction.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Effective oral and written communication, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or estimates.
- Ability to analyze and document project failures and successes.
- Ability to lead meetings effectively.
- Ability to hold others accountable for project outcomes.
- Ability to think analytically.
- Ability to take initiative.
- Knowledge to analyze costs, benefits, and feasibility for assigned projects.
- Knowledge to proactively anticipate and mitigate risks to reduce probability & impact.
- Ability to solve problems effectively.
- Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
