About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide essential support and perform non-licensed tasks under the supervision of Registered Nurses
- Assist nurses, PAs, physicians, and the Ortho team with clinic procedures, surgery scheduling, and administrative and clinic duties
- Collect and document assessment data and provide patient education
- Assist with patient physicals and lab draws
- Respond appropriately to patient questions and address patient concerns
- Interact with and assist the public in a professional and friendly manner
- Communicate accurate and complete information and maintain strict confidentiality when necessary
- Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, management, and ancillary departments
- Follow the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines
- Provide medical coverage for UAMS-contracted sporting and racing events
- Assist with insurance verification/authorization and surgery scheduling
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- Successful completion of the patient care technician course within three (3) months of hire
- Proficiency in providing basic patient care
- Adherence to established patient safety protocols and guidelines
- Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Accurate and timely documentation of patient-related activities, including vital signs, intake/output, and medication administration
- Strong organizational skills, including maintaining clean and organized work environments and tracking patient supplies
- Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team
- Physical stamina and ability to work under pressure
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs to waist height
- Preferred: patient care experience in an acute care setting
- Preferred: experience with casting/splinting
- Preferred: experience with blood draws
- Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
