About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary resource for emergency and after-hours contact on the residence hall floor
- Staff the housing office on weekends and after hours
- Build a positive community on the assigned floor and throughout the residence hall
- Assist residents with personal and academic concerns
- Open and close the Residence Hall and process resident and guest check-ins and check-outs
- Carry a pager for emergencies and scheduled late check-ins
- Answer phone inquiries and provide hospital/campus directions
- Secure the building by checking floors, stairwells, locks, and safety hazards
- Host or facilitate at least two activities per semester
- Assist new students with adapting to University life
- Support community standards, student behavior rules, fire drills, and tornado procedures
- Report safety hazards and maintenance concerns
- Provide accurate floor-environment information through night logs, Maestro, meetings, and RA staff meetings
- Attend training and RA meetings and collaborate with Residence Hall staff and fellow RAs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a UAMS student in one of the six UAMS colleges
- Must live in the residence hall
- Must be available for employment for two semesters upon initial hire
- Must not be employed in any other UAMS department or lab
- Outside employment and extracurricular involvement require GSM approval
- Must work no more than 20 hours per week unless specifically approved in advance
- Must attend and participate in all training and RA meetings
- Must carry a pager as required
- Must become familiar with fire safety equipment, the ALL-Call system, campus locations, and Residence Hall operations
- Must adhere to University, residence hall, and student behavior rules
- Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
