About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform patient care tasks and duties that do not require a license
- Support ongoing care delivery as part of the unit-based team in the H7 Medical Oncology Unit
- Obtain patient reports and communicate with registered nurses about patient care and changes in condition
- Inform nurses of patient requests or complaints
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
- Transport patients to other hospital areas as directed
- Carry out delegated plans of care using a multidisciplinary approach
- Communicate with team members to facilitate patient care
- Follow through on delegated patient care activities
- Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, chair transfers, turning, and repositioning assistance
- Document patient care activities, vital signs, ADLs, wave tests, and intake/output accurately and timely
- Assist patients and visitors with information or problem solutions
- Support department members in performing their duties
- Notify appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- Successful completion of a patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to follow oral instructions
- Basic computer skills
- Strong work ethic and accountability
- Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
- Must pass required competencies
- Ability to be fitted for, don, and perform routine tasks in N95 masks, PAPR, or CAPR equipment
- Legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
- Completion of five weeks of Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–5:00PM training after hire
- Pre-employment criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
- Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman (preferred)
- Patient care experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
- Prior PCT experience (preferred)
