About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform patient care tasks and duties that do not require a license
  • Support ongoing care delivery as part of the unit-based team in the H7 Medical Oncology Unit
  • Obtain patient reports and communicate with registered nurses about patient care and changes in condition
  • Inform nurses of patient requests or complaints
  • Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Transport patients to other hospital areas as directed
  • Carry out delegated plans of care using a multidisciplinary approach
  • Communicate with team members to facilitate patient care
  • Follow through on delegated patient care activities
  • Provide grooming, oral hygiene, comfort measures, ambulation, chair transfers, turning, and repositioning assistance
  • Document patient care activities, vital signs, ADLs, wave tests, and intake/output accurately and timely
  • Assist patients and visitors with information or problem solutions
  • Support department members in performing their duties
  • Notify appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Successful completion of a patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow oral instructions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong work ethic and accountability
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height
  • Must pass required competencies
  • Ability to be fitted for, don, and perform routine tasks in N95 masks, PAPR, or CAPR equipment
  • Legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
  • Completion of five weeks of Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–5:00PM training after hire
  • Pre-employment criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman (preferred)
  • Patient care experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
  • Prior PCT experience (preferred)
