About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Send specimens to referral laboratories according to hospital and laboratory policies and state and federal regulations
Verify appropriate orders have been submitted
Enter results from referral laboratories into the laboratory information system
Assist with inventory, quality control, and other laboratory duties as assigned
Perform testing of patient samples
Interpret, review, and prepare patient test results for review by the Supervisor and/or Medical Director
Maintain quality control and quality assurance, assess acceptability, and take corrective action as required
Perform function checks on analyzers, lab equipment, and automation equipment
Complete machine maintenance and calibrations and troubleshoot problems
Work with service representatives to facilitate instrument repairs
Coordinate acquisition, testing, and reporting of patient test results with staff from various departments
Conduct inventory counts, restock supplies, report supplies to be ordered, and store received supplies according to requirements and regulations
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences, or an approved ASCP discipline
Approved ASCP discipline requires 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within or in addition to the Bachelor's degree
ASCP certification must be obtained within one year of employment
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
Must complete annual TB screening
Must pass criminal background screening, with possible drug testing and education verification
