About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform medical record services and manage patient information by analyzing patient data denial remits and determining what the payor requires to adjudicate the claim
  • Analyze the denial and notify the manager of new or different remit issues in work queues
  • Work timely and notify the supervisor when there are any delays in keeping work queues empty
  • Review insurance remits and determine what medical records the insurance company needs to adjudicate patient claims
  • Determine based on the request where and how the records are processed and where the records need to be sent
  • Designate whether records need to be printed, uploaded to portals, and/or transmitted electronically
  • Learn each payor and work with the payer’s guidelines
  • Work within the timeframes expected and report any delays in processing
  • Contact insurance companies to ensure records sent are received at the appropriate insurance destination
  • Communicate and interact with payors as required
  • Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field OR Associate’s Degree PLUS 2 years of medical or legal experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • RHIA or RHIT preferred
