About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manages and coordinates the daily operations of the libraries’ resources, facilities, and services
  • Supervises staff members in Access Services, Interlibrary Loan, and IT support
  • Serves as acting director in the director’s absence
  • Coordinates the format review and processing of dissertations and interacts with the graduate school, colleges, and registrar’s office
  • Provides support for the virtual bookstore by assisting faculty/students with book adoptions while serving as a liaison with the registrar’s office
  • Collaborates and provides support to the Education and Research Services’ team to ensure a positive user experience with electronic resources, ILS, and link resolver
  • Assists in the assessment and development of long-range planning for resources and services
  • Participates in the development and review of library policies and procedures
  • Aids branding, marketing, and promotion of library services and programs
  • Coordinates the collection and reporting of library statistics to regional and national agencies
  • Commitment to continuing professional development, scholarly activity, and professional service
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • ALA-accredited master’s degree in library/information science
  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in an academic and/or health sciences library
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be flexible and creative in response to changing needs and priorities
  • Adept at collaborating with a broad range of faculty, staff, and students
  • Demonstrated commitment to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view, and supporting an inclusive educational and employment environment
  • Strong understanding of academic library standards, policies, and procedures
  • Preferred Qualifications: Education and/or experience in life sciences
  • Knowledge of health sciences information resources to support medical education, scholarship, and patient care
  • Strong user-focused public services orientation
  • Familiarity with electronic resource licensing, library management systems, and related technologies
  • Experience with applications that support or enhance online learning environments (e.g. LibGuides)
