About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Reviews and interprets prescriber's orders and detects appropriateness of therapy; prepares and dispenses medications.
- Prepares sterile admixtures using proper aseptic technique.
- Prepares chemotherapy according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Answers client questions regarding prescription renewal, dosage, and side effects.
- Serves as a primary or co-preceptor for rotational students; provides formal, in-depth training of students and new staff.
- Assists with the development of educational materials and in-services for staff development.
- Directs, advises, and instructs staff in assigned areas in all activities about job duties and functions.
- Assists leadership in all aspects of pharmacy operations in the area of assigned responsibility.
- Serves as a liaison between the pharmacy service line and the assigned practice area.
- Promotes a safe working environment by adhering to the UAMS patient safety plan.
- Ensures equipment and facilities are used, calibrated, and maintained properly.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy Degree
- PGY1 Residency Training OR 3 years of applicable experience
- Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacist or eligible for licensure
- Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate of Pharmacy
- Board certified in applicable area
- Experience with retail pharmacy, neurology/headache medications, specialty pharmacy, or ambulatory care
