About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of the Sergeant
  • Responsible for enforcement of traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations
  • This position is governed by the Law Enforcement Standards of Arkansas and UAMS Policies.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license
  • Be certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer or become certified within one (1) year of employment (Possibility of a one-year extension)
  • Able to pass a medical physical examination
  • Able to pass a psychological examination
  • Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8 to 12-hour shift
  • Ability to climb stairwells
  • Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population
  • Engages in and maintains control of situations/persons through use of minimal force needed in required situations.
